300zx ptu problems May 22, 2017 · 300ZX (Z32) Forums - Z32 PTU 1990 wiring help - Hey guys Help my can runs rough as My subhaness on my PTU fell apart when moving it rewired it and not sure where these 4 wires go. Up to that point, there was no problem. Always pays to check the ECU diagnostics 1st so as to fix the primary problem first. Pull all the plugs with the spring clip (CAS, PTU, Injectors, MAF, AAC, FICD, Coolant Temp Sensor, Air Regulator) and make sure no connectors are corroded. Before yesterday I had never soldered a wire in my life, so I purchased a soldering iron, a huge length of wire, and practiced. In the meantime, have a google search on "300zx PTU" and it will show you that unfortunately the Series 1 PTU is often the cause of problems like the one you are having. Howdy all (again) for those that haven't read my previous posts about my poor PTU issues here is a summary and hopefully the final question/s on the Description Old style PTUs are known for going bad; causing all sorts of poor running conditions or even shutting down completely, these problems were so bad in fact that Nissan had a campaign to update them to the Version 2 style with an updated PTU and patch harness. 7 Ohm. Cleaned all terminals with a needle file and scotch brite and sprayed them with CRC, plugged back in and as the clips that lock the plugs in were missing ran some lock wire around the clip groove to ensure a tight fit ,problem solved. I'm thinking that the PTU just needs to be replaced I think. Bad PTU = no spark on one or more channels, If you're getting spark at all 6 then the PTU is fine. He replaced 2 injectors, 2 coils, the fuel filter, spark plugs, and various other things. If your car is equipped with the old style heat sink style you will need to update your connectors, the bracket and the hardware to install. Is there an easy way to test it all back to the ECU ?
